Guglhupf (also known as a bundt cake) used to be an key part of every Sunday afternoon snack break, often accompanied by a cup of coffee, and is still commonly seen at children’s parties or family celebrations in Austria today. Whether it’s prepared with yeast dough with raisins or a sponge mixture, it always tastes delicious and you can find a Guglhupf tin in almost every home.
The enamel baking tin can be used in all ovens and is robust, long-lasting and easy to clean. The iron core distributes the heat evenly, giving you exceptional baking results.
Enamel is made from iron fused with glass at high temperatures, therefore it’s made from natural raw materials.
The baking enamel mould is particularly easy to demould (before filling the dough, the mould must be greased and sprinkled with flour or breadcrumbs – see also tip below). The non-porous, smooth, glass surface guarantees perfect hygiene, as it’s flavour-neutral, prevents bacteria growth and is easy to clean. When used and cared for properly, enamel cookware can provide years of cooking enjoyment and will maintain its characteristic glossy appearance.
Even the famous Kärntner Reindling (an Austrian yeast cake with a nut filling) can be prepared in the Guglhupf tin, as can all types of muffin batter. The small tin is not only great for baking cakes just for yourself, but is also the perfect size to use to make small Kugelhopf cakes to give away as gifts. You could even give the cake tin itself along with the cake that you’ve made as a present.
Make sure to grease the enamel cake tin well and to flour or crumb it before adding the cake mixture. This ensures that the cake, and anything else that you choose to bake in the tin, will not stick and can be easily removed.
There is also a large range of products for you to choose from, as the enamel Guglhupf tin comes in a variety sizes and in a two-coloured version in our RIESS Sarah Wiener Edition range.
